Craps Rules

One game which sees a lot of action and excitement is the game of craps.  It is a dice game played on a table built to specifications; two dice are used in a game.  The dice used in a game of craps is made as per set standards.  They are also inspected routinely to ensure they have not sustained any damage.  As part of the rules dices which have been used for eight hours are replaced.  Though the game is about rolling the dice, there are rules which state how the players must handle the dice and how the dice must be rolled. 
                           
Bank craps or casino Craps is played by one or more players and a casino.  The players are required to place bets on the table.  The casino sets the odds on the payouts for the bets placed.  Taking turns the dice are rolled by the players.  The player who rolls the dice first is called the “shooter”.  To become the shooter a player must bet the table minimum on the “Don’t pass” or “Pass” line.  The “Don’t pass” and “Pass” lines are also known as the “Don’t win” and “Win” lines.  Once the shooter has been decided the other players make bets on the dice rolls by the shooter. 

Players must handle the dice only with one hand while throwing.  The dice must hit the opposite wall of the table and in case the dice falls off the table then the dice would be inspected.  At the start of the game the stickman gives five dice to the shooter out of which two will have to be selected for play.  A game of craps can have around 20 players and the game will be run by four persons on behalf of the casino.  The four consist of a boxman, a stickman and couple of dealers.

The very first roll of the dice in a game is called the “come out” roll.  If the shooter’s come out roll results in 12, 3 or 2 it will be called craps.  In this instance the players who bet on the pass line will lose their money.  Until a point is established the come out roll would continue.  Players who bet on the pass line would win if the roll results in 11 or 7 which is called a natural.  If the roll results in 10, 9, 8, 6, 5 or 4 it becomes the point and it would be time to start a new roll.  Using a puck or an “on” button the dealers at the table will inform the players the point number.  Once again the player would continue to roll the dice until it results in the point number or seven.  Should the shooter get the point number on a roll then those who bet money on the pass line will win.  If a seven is rolled then the bets on the pass line will be lost.  A roll resulting in seven is also called a “seven-out”.
