Online Pai Gow is played with a 53-card deck that includes a joker. The player and the banker compete to make the best possible hands. In online Pai Gow the player makes his wager by clicking on the chips of the appropriate denominations. Then by clicking on the deal button the player is dealt seven cards. The player has to arrange his seven cards into a five-card hand and a two-card hand. The two-card hand is known as the front hand and the five-card hand is known as the back hand. The five-card hand follows poker hand rankings. In the two-card hand pairs score over two singletons.
There are certain rules that the player has to follow in setting the hands. The two-card hand cannot be higher than the five-card hand. The joker can be used as a wild card only to complete a straight, flush, or straight flush. In all other cases it is used as an ace. When used in a flush, the joker takes the rank of the highest unused card. In online Pai Gow buttons are provided for splitting the seven cards dealt into two hands.
After the player has arranged his hands he then clicks on the deal button again. The dealer’s hand is then dealt. In online Pai Gow the dealer’s hand is automatically arranged as per a set of fixed rules known as the “house way”. At the same time the player’s five-card hand is compared to the dealer’s five-card hand with the higher ranking hand winning. Similarly, the player’s two-card hand is compared to the dealer’s two-card hand with the higher ranking hand winning.
If there is an exact match between hands in either the two-card hand or the five-card hand the tie goes to the banker. If both the player’s hands win then the player is paid out at even money. The online casino usually takes a 5% commission in this case. If the player wins one hand and loses the other then the bet is a push and the player’s wager is returned. If the player loses both the hands then player loses his wager. Because most hands end in a push online Pai Gow is a very slow game.
As soon as the dealer’s cards are dealt the game software determines the results and makes the payouts. When you play online Pai Gow the “Balance” displays the current value of the amount in the players account. When the player makes a wager his balance decreases by the amount of the wager. When he wins, his winnings are credited to the balance. In the case of a push his balance is restored to the earlier amount. If he loses then his balance remains at the reduced amount.
