- Stickman – The casino employee who handles the dice and announces the result of each roll.
- Dealer – The casino employee who handles the chips and the money transactions.
- Boxman – The overall supervisor of a craps table.
- Pit boss – The overall in-charge of all the craps tables in a casino.
- Shooter – The player who is currently rolling the dice.
- Come-out roll – The first roll in a new round.
- Right bettors – Players who bet with the dice.
- Wrong bettors – Players who bet against the dice.
- Point – The total rolled in a come out roll, which does not end the round immediately. It can be one of 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10.
- Craps – A throw that totals 2, 3 or 12.
- Sequence bets – Bets that require a series of rolls before the outcome is determined.
- One-roll bets – Bets in which the outcome is determined in a single roll.
- Pass line bet – A bet that wins if the come-out roll is a 7 or 11 and loses if the come-out roll is craps. If a point is established on the come-out roll the bet wins if the point is rolled again before rolling a 7.
- Don’t pass bet – The opposite of a pass line bet. It loses if the come-out roll is a 7 or 11 and wins if the come-out roll is craps. If a point is established on the come-out roll the bet wins if a 7 is rolled again before rolling the point.
- Come bet – The bet wins if the point is rolled again before rolling a 7.
- Don’t come bet – The bet wins if a 7 is rolled again before rolling the point.
- Free odds bets – Bets that have a zero house edge. These bets can only be made in conjunction with a pass line bet, don’t pass bet, come bet or don’t come bet.
- Place bets – Bets that a particular point number will be rolled before a 7.
- Field bets – Bets that the next roll will be a number listed in the field box, that is 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 or 12.
- Any seven bet – A bet that wins if the next roll is 7.
- Ace-deuce bet – A bet that wins if the next roll is 3.
- Box cars bet – A bet that wins if the next roll is 12.
- Hi-lo bet – A bet that wins if the next roll is 2 or 12.
- Snake eyes bet – A bet that wins if the next roll is 2.
- Yo bet – A bet that wins if the next roll is 11.
- Easy way bet – A sequence bet that wins if the total of 4, 6, 8 or 10 (number to be specified) is rolled without using doubles before a 7 or the specified number using doubles is rolled.
- Hard way bet – A sequence bet that wins if the total of 4, 6, 8 or 10 (number to be specified) is rolled using doubles before a 7 or the specified number without doubles is rolled.
