The online blackjack game begins with the player placing the wager. The wager is placed by clicking the desired chip and then clicking the betting area on the blackjack layout. This option should be exercised only when the player thinks his hand will become unbeatable after taking one more card. In online blackjack when the dealer’s face up card is an ace the “insurance” button gets highlighted. Since the dealer’s chances of getting a blackjack are high the player is allowed to insure himself against that possibility. When the player clicks “insurance” a wager equal to half his original wager is taken as the insurance bet. If the dealer gets a blackjack then the insurance wager pays out at 2 is to 1. If the dealer does not get a blackjack then the insurance wager is lost. The blackjack hand is played out independent of the insurance option.

If the player wins then he is paid out at even money. If the player wins with a blackjack then he is paid out at 3 is to 2. A online blackjack is a dealt hand with an ace and a ten, jack, queen or king.
